Project Title: Documenting Learning toward Leadership Proficiency using ePortfolios
Funding Level: $5000
Section 2: Abstract
This proposal describes a curriculum enhancement to be implemented in a year-long Practicum course in the Urban Educational Leadership Program’s Masters/Building Level Administrative Licensure Program. The project, entitled “Documenting Learning Toward Leadership Proficiency Using ePortfolios” involves the development of ePortfolios and interactive guides and assessment tools to support the development of leadership knowledge and skills over a three-semester field-based practicum. The alignment of an instructional ePortfolio providing guidance for candidates, faculty and mentors with a culminating professional ePortfolio and associated assessment tools will elevate and articulate the Practicum in a way that stands out in the field of educational leadership, and most importantly, support students’ deep learning and skill development according to the National Educational Leadership Program (NELP) Standards. The CEG would support the following: a) development of an instructional ePortfolio containing practicum guidelines, activity descriptions, ePortfolio instructions and requirements, and rubrics for evaluation by field-based mentors and faculty assessors; b) development of the Student Professional ePortfolio assignment/components; c) development of evaluation rubrics for mentors; and d) an evaluation plan for implementation of the ePortfolio. Students who will engage in this course are seeking a license in Building Level Leadership through the state of Indiana.
