"Meeting the Challenges of Legal Education"
Lauren Robel serves as the Provost and Executive Vice President of Indiana University Bloomington, providing leadership for initiatives that enhance the academic excellence of the campus.
Her academic home is the Maurer School of Law, where she has served on the faculty since 1985. Robel is the Val Nolan Professor of Law, and has served as dean of the school since 2003. Robel is a nationally recognized leader in legal education and a former president of the Association of American Law Schools.
Robel’s research focuses on the federal courts. She has written articles and books on topics ranging from the role of the federal judiciary in a federal system to issues of federal litigation procedure. She has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards at the school, including the Leon Wallace Teaching Award, the Trustees Teaching Award, and the Gavel Award from members of the graduating class. Her public service has been recognized by the Indiana State Bar Foundation’s Pro Bono Publico Award, and the Indiana State Bar Women and the Law Recognition Award.
Robel received a B.A. in English from Auburn University and a J.D. from Indiana University.
