Project Title: Revising the Organizational Leadership Graduate Curriculum: Realignment to Professional Competency Models
Funding Level: $5000
Abstract: This project aims to complete a systematic review of professional competency models in the fields of human resources and talent development for the purpose of realigning our graduate curriculum to meet the needs of the profession and employers. This will impact the Organizational Leadership concentration and the Human Resource Development focus area of the MS Tech degree in the Technology Leadership and Communication department. Currently, these program areas lack a clear and direct connection to industry recognized professional bodies of knowledge. In this project, the bodies of knowledge of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Association of Talent Development will be used to analyze and realign the Organizational Leadership graduate curriculum. Intended benefits of this include providing a more thorough educational experience for students, increasing the perceived value of the program for students and employers, and creating a clear pathway for students to obtain professional certification in tandem with obtaining their graduate degree.
