Project Title: Co-designing Co-design: A Collaborative Design Learning Place for Visual Communication
Funding Level: $10,000
Abstract:
“How might we use co-design (ie., collective creativity as it is applied across the whole span of a design process), both to model and teach co-design practice for students, and also to improve learning outcomes for those students through the participatory design of their own collaborative design learning place?” The goal of the project is to provide graduate students with an opportunity to gain a deeper and richer experience of co-design practice through enacting that practice in their own collaborative design learning space within their thesis and studio coursework. An additional benefit will be to have a perpetually evolving collaborative space where students will be able to meet with community partners in collaborative design efforts. Creating a space that will enable engagement with community partners will benefit both graduate and undergraduate levels of the VCD curriculum.
