Project Title: Logging On to American Politics
Funding Level: $5,000
Abstract:
Political Science Y103 (POLS-Y 103), an “Introduction to American Politics”, is key to both the Political Science departmental major and minor as well as to the School of Liberal Arts curriculum. This course, however, has only been taught at IUPUI in a traditional face-to-face (F2F) format, denying our students the flexibility they desire in this new era of education. As the drive toward online education expands, it is a necessity for us to begin offering online options if we want our departments, schools, and universities to compete effectively in today’s educational marketplace.
This project seeks to address this need by developing online course content that can be used in creation of a fully online section of POLS-Y 103. Additionally, this content will be applicable as an online supplement to traditional F2F courses or hybrid courses, allowing for expansion of the online political science offerings.
Goals for the project include course development and using the initial experience to support further online course development in the Department of Political Science, as well as contributing to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning surrounding online courses.
