Oncourse
Oncourse provides Indiana University students, faculty, and staff with a widely used environment in which to collaborate and learn. It offers a straightforward way to create a web site for every course offered at the university. Using Oncourse, students and faculty can access course syllabi and grades; communicate via course mail, chat rooms, and discussion forums; and access online quizzes and surveys.
You can also learn about Oncourse from Knowledge Base documents (see the Oncourse menu), by clicking "help" within Oncourse, and from other training and support resources.

Adobe Connect
Adobe Connect Meeting provides Indiana University faculty and staff with a web collaboration tool for administrative meetings and academic classes. Web collaboration, or web conferencing, provides a virtual environment for sharing presentations, images, and desktop applications with remote participants. Adobe Connect Meeting also offers audio and videoconferencing, text chat, a digital whiteboard, and polling. Adobe Connect Meeting requires a web browser with the Flash plug-in and a broadband Internet connection.
Adobe Connect Meeting works as follows:
- A host with a Connect Meeting account logs into the Connect Manager to create a meeting room with a unique URL. The meeting host communicates the URL to meeting attendees, who can then open the meeting in a web browser. Attendees do not need a Connect Meeting account to join the meeting; they can simply log in as guests.
- Once in the meeting, the host can broadcast audio and video, share a computer screen or presentation, and text chat with attendees. The host can also promote individual meeting attendees to allow them to do the same.
For more on Adobe Connect, see Web Conferencing.

IUanyWare
IUanyWare is a virtual computing environment available to Indiana University students, faculty, and staff. Think of it as an online computer lab or workstation. In the past, many software tools were limited to specific labs or stations. With IUanyWare, you can use a web browser or mobile app to run certain IU-licensed software applications without having to install them on your computer or mobile device. IUanyWare is available at https://iuanyware.iu.edu. For instructions and more information, see:
- How do I set up and use IUanyWare?
- How do I set up and run IUanyWare applications on my mobile device?
- What is IU Cloud Storage and how can I use it?
For a list of software available through IUanyWare, see the IUanyWare Current Software List.

Student Response Systems/Clickers
Student response systems, also known as "clickers," are instructor and student tools that allow students to answer questions that an instructor may pose during a class in a PowerPoint or by some other means. Student responses are both aggregated so that the instructor and students can view and discuss the responses as a class, and individual responses are recorded for assessment purposes. At IU Indianapolis, Turning Technologies software and hardware is the supported student response system related to integration with Oncourse, though faculty are free to use a system of their choice. For more information, read the following KnowledgeBase article, "How do I get started using Turning Technologies in my course?"

Next.IU Initiative and Pilot Programs
Next.IU is a UITS-led a two-year pilot program to discover what's next for teaching and learning technologies at IU Indianapolis and the Indiana University system. The Next trials do more than explore the latest trends. They investigate the tools and approaches that best support IU's pursuit of excellence in the classroom and beyond. Currently, the trials are piloting Blackboard, Desire2Learn, and CourseNetworking, with evaluations of other systems and tools to come in future semesters.
