2016 Curriculum Enhancement Grant Proposals Due January 29, 2016
The Curriculum Enhancement Grant (CEG) initiative provides faculty with technical and instructional support, time, and funds to implement projects to improve student learning and success at IUPUI and IUPU Columbus. In addition, the grants enable faculty competitiveness for external educational or curricular improvement grants and increase faculty involvement in pursuing the scholarship of teaching and learning. Individual faculty members can apply for up to $5,000. Teams of two or more faculty working on two or more courses can apply for a maximum of $10,000 per proposal. Teams of three or more faculty working on three or more courses can apply for a maximum of $15,000 per proposal. The grants are open to IUPUI and IUPU Columbus full-time faculty. See the 2016 Curriculum Enhancement Grant (CEG) Request for Proposals for more information. The deadline for proposal submissions is Friday, January 29, 2016 at 11:59 pm.

2016 Early Career Teaching Academy Applications now due Thursday, December 17
The deadline for 2016 ECTA applications is now Thursday, December 17 at 11:59 p.m.
Most new tenure-track faculty at large public universities enter the professoriate with training and support to conduct research, but few also enter with equivalent preparation and support for their teaching. The Early Career Teaching Academy provides a setting within which faculty members can create and develop a powerful teaching career, one that is rooted in evidence-based active learning strategies and high-impact educational practices, and designed to facilitate student success. Faculty who become Early Career Teaching Fellows will be in a position to play a leading role in efforts to develop a culture of expert teaching within departments and schools at IUPUI, to document and promote their teaching successes, and to serve as effective teaching mentors for future faculty.
The academy convenes in two intensive sessions, one full-day and one half-day session. These sessions focus on the effective development and assessment of active learning teaching strategies suited to IUPUI’s diverse student body. By the second session, faculty are able to articulate the teaching strategies they plan to implement. Academy fellows have the opportunity to participate in faculty learning communities and teaching-related events over the course of the next year.
The next academy will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday February 12, 2016, 1 to 5 p.m, in University Library, Room 1126.

RISE Course Development and ePortfolio Grants
Rise Course Development Grants
Interim Executive Vice Chancellor Kathy Johnson is committed to increasing course offerings that respond to the RISE to the IUPUI Challenge. Faculty are encouraged to apply for a $2,500 grant for professional development or summer support to develop a new course or to redesign an existing course in line with RISE criteria. An initial amount of $2,000 will be disbursed at the beginning of the grant period, and the remaining $500 will be disbursed upon submission of the final report. RISE ePortfolio Grants
The RISE Program and the ePortfolio Initiative are pleased to announce a new collaboration that will offer two grants of up to $5,000 to support the development of RISE courses that include a reflective electronic portfolio or electronic Personal Development Plan (ePDP). RISE experiences and ePortfolios are a natural partnership: the RISE to the IUPUI Challenge initiative aims to engage students more deeply in their learning and to contribute to their intellectual and professional development; ePortfolios, including ePDPs, have similar aims. Experience at both IUPUI and other campuses has shown that, when carefully incorporated into such high-impact educational practices as those embodied in RISE, reflective electronic portfolios can be an effective strategy for enhancing student learning and engagement, as well as for documenting, assessing, and improving the effectiveness of the high-impact practice.
