CEG funds will support projects in two tracks: the General Track and the Intergroup Dialogue Initiative Track. Individual faculty members can apply for up to $5,000. Teams of three or more faculty working on three or more courses can apply for a maximum of $15,000 per proposal. The grants are open to IUPUI and IUPU Columbus full-time faculty. This session will provide an overview of essential best practices for assessment and how Canvas supports assessment of learning. Special focus will be place on the Assignments and Quizzes tools in Canvas using both sample scenarios and attendee course materials.

Now that we’re halfway through the academic year, the ETTA Spring Follow-Up is a 2.5-hour event that will build on what was presented at the Fall Conference. Topics will include effective group work, classroom discussions, and other topics as suggested by Fall Conference attendees. The event will include discussions, an expert panel, a guest speaker, and breakout groups. The Educational Training for Teaching Associates Program (ETTA) was created for graduate students who serve—or who will serve—in any type of teaching-related role.

ePortfolios can be deployed to serve a wide range of pedagogical purposes. Among these, assessment represents one of the most common, whether ePortfolios are focused on single courses, full programs, experiential learning, or broad institutional initiatives such as general education. This workshop will examine ePortfolio assessment practices, including rubric-based assessment of learning outcomes, and explore how assessment of reflection differs from “self-report” survey responses. Several IUPUI faculty will describe their approaches to assessing ePortfolios in segments or as unified compositions, with attention not only to practical logistics but also to improvements made based on assessment results.

Call for Proposals: Bringle Civic Engagement Showcase and Symposium

Individuals and teams engaged in community-university collaborations devoted to teaching, research/scholarship or professional community service are invited to submit proposals to present at the 11th annual IUPUI Robert G. Bringle Civic Engagement Showcase and Symposium (CESS) to be held on Tuesday, April 14. This year's theme is Strengthening Partnerships to Enhance Quality of Life in Indianapolis, featuring a keynote by Dr. Greg Lindsey, Professor at University of Minnesota.

About: The Center for Service and Learning has designated funds for small dissemination grants between $500 and $750. These grants are available to support faculty and instructional staff in disseminating work associated with civic and community engagement in higher education, particularly work that builds the knowledge base related to service learning pedagogy, community-university partnerships and community-based participatory research/collaborative inquiry.

Tenure and Time Management Workshop

Founder of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD) Dr. Kerry Ann Rockquemore will visit IUPUI to conduct her popular workshop on Tenure and Time Management, which is specifically designed to address these issues and provide participants with concrete skills to successfully transition from graduate student to professor.

RISE Program Course Development Grant

Faculty are encouraged to apply for $2500 for professional development/summer support to develop a new course or redesign an existing course in line with RISE criteria. $2000 will be disseminated initially and the remaining $500 upon submission of the final report.

RISE courses must incorporate qualified experiences, integration of knowledge, structured reflection activities to link the experience with targeted learning outcomes, and assessment as outlined below. These courses will be distinctive because they intentionally use experiential learning to prepare students for graduate school, careers, and global citizenship. They provide skills, knowledge, and experiences that are highly valued by employers and lay the foundation for future leaders. Courses developed in the summer of 2015 must initially be offered in the 2015-16 academic year.
