Through the awarding of small grants, the Learning Environments Grant (LEG) supports the creation of innovative, engaging formal and informal learning environments that meet the needs of both faculty and students. The committee meets once a month throughout each academic year to make funding decisions and is composed of faculty and staff from all relevant units of the university. Schools and departments at IUPUI and IUPUC are eligible for the LEG. Please email the CTL with any questions.

Curriculum Enhancement Grant Proposals Due January 18, 2013

The Curriculum Enhancement Grant (CEG) initiative is designed to provide faculty with support, time, and resources to implement projects designed to improve student learning and success at IUPUI and IUPU Columbus. In addition, it is expected that the grants will increase faculty competitiveness for external educational or curricular improvement grants and increase the number of faculty involved in pursuing the scholarship of teaching and learning. Individual faculty members can apply for up to $5,000. Teams of three or more faculty working on three or more courses can apply for a maximum of $15,000 per proposal. The grants are open to IUPUI and IUPU Columbus full-time faculty. See the 2013 Curriculum Enhancement Grant (CEG) Guidelines and Application for more information. Have you observed learners dozing off, distracting themselves with technology, avoiding answering questions, missing class, reading outside material or exhibiting other signs of disengagement or inattention? Whether you are dealing with these challenges now or have in your past, we invite you to share your questions, insights, and experiences and work together to formulate strategies to promote student engagement. Bring your lunch. We'll have coffee and popcorn.
This session is part of the First Wednesday Brown Bag Series , which is designed to provide faculty with a forum to discuss common teaching challenges and to consider constructive, evidence-based solutions to those challenges. Each facilitated session is focused on a particular topic and designed for faculty with all levels of experience.
This series is cosponsored by the Gateway to Graduation Program and the Center for Teaching and Learning.

Submitting Final Grades in Oncourse

This fast-paced workshop will guide you through the process of using Oncourse to submit your final grades with the SIS Grade Roster tool. For the greatest benefit, participants should have course grades calculated and displaying accurately in the Oncourse Gradebook's Course Grades page prior to the workshop.

We welcome faculty with part-time appointments to join us for an evening of discovery, reflection, and learning. You'll find something for you, whether you have taught before or are new to the classroom.
The evening’s interactive sessions will cover a variety of teaching topics, and you will find something new, exciting, and useful. Topics will include: basics of using Oncourse, advanced functions of Oncourse, strategies for teaching online, assessing student learning using rubrics, promoting academic integrity using Turnitin.com, and engaging students in the classroom. There will also be a welcome session and overview of the Fostering Learning, Achievement, and Graduation Success (FLAGS) system and assessing the Principles of Undergraduate Learning (PULs).
