Diversity statements are increasingly becoming a required component of job applications in order for employers to discern potential employees’ contributions to equity and inclusion. In this workshop, the purpose of and best practices for writing a diversity statement will be reviewed. Participants will also begin to craft the core components of their diversity statements by reflecting on how their teaching, research, service, and other activities have contributed to equity and inclusion.

As IUPUI continues the process of reviewing general education courses, course coordinators or faculty responsible for preparing course dossiers for review may have questions about the information and materials that need to go into the dossiers. This webinar will provide an overview of the course review process, course dossier requirements, and the rubric that will be used to review the course dossiers. It will also introduce a new option for preparing a simplified course dossier based on using a Mile Marker assignment. Examples from existing course dossiers will be incorporated into the webinar. Questions and discussion will be encouraged.

Candidates for academic positions are often asked to give a teaching demonstration as part of an on campus interview. This webinar will be facilitated by faculty members from IUPUI and University of Pikeville , some of whom have recently done a successful teaching demonstration and others who have been part of faculty search committees and evaluated teaching demonstrations. You will learn about a framework for planning a teaching demonstration and some example approaches to teaching a given topic. You will also discuss the importance of considering the institutional and pedagogical contexts and situational factors such as the pandemic when preparing a teaching demonstration. if you will be on the faculty job market in the near future, this is a great opportunity to ask questions and learn about tips and strategies to deliver a stellar teaching demonstrations!

Setting up your Canvas site in a clear and easily usable manner can go a long way toward guiding students to what they are looking for and reducing student frustration and confusion.
In this webinar, we will be looking at some basic web usability principles and how you can easily apply them to your Canvas course site in your navigation, home page, and modules.
