The Faculty Crossing is a technology-rich space for faculty and teaching staff of all appointments. Part workroom, part café, the Faculty Crossing provides a welcoming environment that promotes creativity and innovation.
The Faculty Crossing's primary use is for collaboration.and is a comfortable place to brainstorm with co-authors, plan interdisciplinary partnerships, talk over grant applications, and make connections with colleagues. Visitors are welcome to work independently, but are reminded that collaboration is not always quiet!
Periodically, the Faculty Crossing will be reserved for special events. A calendar listing of these events can be found here. Programming in the Faculty Crossing is coordinated by the Forum Fellows. They can be reached at faccross@iupui.edu.
The Faculty Crossing is located in University Library, Room 1125-M, next door to the Center for Teaching and Learning. Faculty can access the Crossing either by swiping their Crimson Card or entering through the Center for Teaching and Learning.

One of IUPUI's oldest public events, the E.C. Moore Symposium brings the Indiana higher education community together to examine teaching excellence and the instructional strategies employed in various disciplines to encourage student learning. This year’s symposium will feature a keynote by Dr. Jane Fernandes, President of Guilford College and a plenary address by Professor Lingma Lu Acheson, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer and Information Science at IUPUI and recipient of the 2019 IUPUI Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. This year’s symposium will feature concurrent sessions, a poster session and presenters’ reception, TED-like talks, and other opportunities to interact with colleagues. As IUPUI continues the process of reviewing general education courses, course coordinators or faculty responsible for preparing course dossiers for review may have questions about the information and materials that need to go into the dossiers. This webinar will provide an overview of the course review process, course dossier requirements, and the rubric that will be used to review the course dossiers. It will also introduce a new option for preparing a simplified course dossier based on using a Mile Marker assignment. Examples from existing course dossiers will be incorporated into the webinar. Questions and discussion will be encouraged.

Students who have a growth mindset view intelligence as malleable while those with a fixed mindset view intelligence as finite. Students can grow with persistence and effort, but having a growth mindset underlies these behaviors. This, in turn, is dependent on the instructor’s mindset as well. In this webinar, participants will be introduced to the differences between growth and fixed mindset theories of intelligence and discuss activities they can incorporate into their classes to foster growth mindset. They will also reflect upon their current teaching practices that align with growth mindset and identify new activities.

Candidates for academic positions are often asked to give a teaching demonstration as part of an on campus interview. This webinar will be facilitated by faculty members from IUPUI and University of Pikeville , some of whom have recently done a successful teaching demonstration and others who have been part of faculty search committees and evaluated teaching demonstrations. You will learn about a framework for planning a teaching demonstration and some example approaches to teaching a given topic. You will also discuss the importance of considering the institutional and pedagogical contexts and situational factors such as the pandemic when preparing a teaching demonstration. if you will be on the faculty job market in the near future, this is a great opportunity to ask questions and learn about tips and strategies to deliver a stellar teaching demonstrations!
