The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) advances excellence in teaching practices and professional growth among all members of the campus teaching community to enhance student learning and success.

The CTL provides a wide array of programs, events, resources, and services that 1) promote evidence-based practices in teaching and learning; 2) encourage professional growth in teaching for faculty of all appointment types, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows; 3) advance innovation and experimentation in teaching and learning; 4) empower engagement in scholarly teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning; and 5) foster inclusion and equity in teaching and learning.

Consultations

Consultations with CTL consultants can involve a wide range of instructional design and teaching with technology topics. They are confidential, independent of performance review procedures, and free of charge for IU Indianapolis, IU Columbus, and IU Fort Wayne faculty and graduate students.

Classroom Observations

CTL consultants will conduct classroom observations for faculty who wish to analyze their classroom teaching behaviors or their presentation skills and discuss teaching improvement goals and strategies.

Online Course or Module Reviews

CTL consultants are available to review and provide feedback on a section of your online course or to perform a more in-depth review of your online or hybrid course.

Mid-Semester Student Feedback

Student focus groups facilitated by CTL consultants can provide you with feedback about what is working well and what could be improved in your course. Alternatively, mid-term student feedback can be collected using an online survey. Our consultants can work with you to tailor an online survey to meet your individual needs.
