NEW! CTL Resources, Training, and Support for Navigating Difficult Conversations
Fall 2024 Inclusive Teaching Toolbox Series: Navigating Difficult Dialogues in Your Course
Empowering educators to promote positive student learning experiences and outcomes out of difficult and challenging classroom discussions is at the heart of the CTL’s new "Navigating Difficult Dialogues in Your Course" webinar series. This series is designed to equip instructors to explore and use tools and strategies necessary to turn challenging classroom moments into opportunities for growth and constructive dialogue, foster a respectful and inclusive learning atmosphere that enhances student engagement and creates a space where every viewpoint is valued, and support responsible, informed, and civically engaged classroom conversations.
Web Resources - Strategies and Guidance for Teaching During Politically Divisive Times
Instructional resources for faculty related to teaching during politically divisive times are now available on the CTL’s website. Politically divisive topics can cause tension and anxiety for both the instructor and students. These resources include guidance on how to (a) handle classroom discussions about controversial topics, (b) integrate relevant issues into your course curriculum, and (c) take care of yourself.
To Your Door Workshops
The CTL offers workshops on a wide range of topics to help faculty develop their teaching and technology skills. These workshops usually last from one to three hours and are open to all IU Indianapolis faculty, staff, and graduate students. We are happy to arrange a custom workshop for individual departments and academic units. These workshops can be tailored to for specific needs and interests.
