The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at IU Indianapolis invites faculty to join the spring 2026–fall 2026 Faculty Learning Community (FLC) cohort, an initiative designed to help students connect classroom learning to career readiness. Faculty in the FLC will collaborate with support from Faculty Fellow Carrie Sickmann and the CTL to amplify career competencies in their fall 2026 courses. All FLC members will receive a $1,000 stipend and participate in one in-person workshop and two virtual seminars in spring 2026. The FLC will help instructors design learning experiences that make students’ knowledge and skills more visible as professional competencies.
Applications are due by Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Extended Reality Initiative Faculty Fellows Grant

The Extended Reality Initiative (XRI) Faculty Fellows Grant provides faculty with technical and instructional support—as well as funding—to implement augmented reality and virtual reality assignments, projects, or activities into their courses. The goal is to enhance student learning outcomes and success across IU. XRI grant proposal submission is now open, and proposals are due by January 21, 2026.

Drop in to get quick tips on how to update your Canvas site, check your video captions, describe your images, and more! If you'd like in-depth accessibility assistance, email the CTL to schedule a longer consultation.

Mack Center Fellowship Applications Due Sunday, November 30

The Faculty Academy on Excellence in Teaching (FACET) has extended application submissions for the 2025-26 Mack Center Fellowships. FACET is seeking applications for one individual Mack Fellow and one Mack Fellow team. The goal of the Mack Fellowship program is to promote and enhance the community of IU faculty engaged in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). Fellows must be full-time faculty (tenured, holding tenure-track appointments, lecturers, clinical, or librarians with faculty rank).

Virtual Exchange Community of Practice Open House

The IU Indianapolis Virtual Exchange Community of Practice (VECoP) invites faculty and staff to a virtual open house on Wednesday, December 10, from 1 to 2 p.m. via Zoom. This informal session offers an opportunity to explore virtual exchange and Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)—a teaching method that uses technology to connect people across borders for collaborative, project-based learning. Attendees can share ideas for current or future collaborations and connect with faculty from three IU Indianapolis schools who have experience with virtual exchange and COIL. Call for Proposals: 2026 Midwest Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference

The 2026 Midwest Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Conference invites proposal submissions for its in-person gathering on April 10, 2026, in South Bend, Indiana. This year’s theme, “The Human Element of Education,” highlights inclusive, research-based teaching practices and features keynote speaker Anne-Marie Womack, author of Inclusive College Classrooms (Routledge, 2023).
Faculty and staff are invited to submit proposals for research, theory, best practices, or workshops. Proposals are due by Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Visit the conference website or view the flyer for details.
