The Curriculum Enhancement Grant (CEG) provides faculty with technical and instructional support, time, and funds to implement projects designed to improve student learning and success at IUPUI and IUPU Columbus. In addition, the grants enable faculty competitiveness for external educational or curricular improvement grants and increase faculty involvement in pursuing the scholarship of teaching and learning.
CEG funds will support projects in two tracks: the General Track and the Intergroup Dialogue Initiative Track. Individual faculty members can apply for up to $5,000. Teams of three or more faculty working on three or more courses can apply for a maximum of $15,000 per proposal. The grants are open to IUPUI and IUPU Columbus full-time faculty. Faculty members who are interested in applying for a 2015 Curriculum Enhancement Grant (CEG) should attend this informative and interactive session. Presenters will outline the process and discuss the criteria for creating a successful application and address questions about developing the proposal or about the two tracks available - the General and the Intergroup Dialogue Initiative tracks. In addition to providing information about the CEG initiative, proposal guidelines, how to write the proposal, and each of the tracks, facilitators will talk with you about your questions and concerns.

Enhancing Teaching and Learning with Intergroup Dialogue

Intergroup dialogues are facilitated, face-to-face interactions between individuals from two or more social identity groups. They focus on issues related to social justice, social group membership, identity, and the positionality (privilege and oppression) of the groups represented. Based on research, intergroup dialogue processes greatly enhance both cognitive and experiential learning around topics involving diversity, cultural competence and social justice when compared to traditional content courses on the same subjects absent IGD teaching components. IUPUI has embarked on a campus-wide initiative to incorporate intergroup dialogue principles, pedagogy and practices into undergraduate, graduate and professional level courses and curriculum, as well as co-curricular learning and faculty and staff professional development

Many faculty are engaged in service learning pedagogy or community-based participatory research. However, presenting evidence to reviewers that demonstrates excellence in teaching or research can be a challenge. The purpose of this workshop is to help faculty structure their evidence to articulate excellence in teaching or research using service learning. Key takeaways: Participants will leave the workshop with ideas for making the case for excellence in teaching or research using service learning, public scholarship, or CBPR. learn how to present evidence to address areas of "impact" and "emerging leadership" as well as other issues related to promotion and/or tenure and dossier preparation. Attendees should bring with them a description of their approach to service learning/CBPR and any evidence that has been collected (e.g., student learning outcomes; focus group data, etc.) .

NSF-sponsored STEM Interactive Web-Based Workshops
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and the IUPUI STEM Education Research Institute (SERI) are hosting 5 upcoming NSF sponsored STEM - Interactive Web-Based Workshops (IWBW); each of which will be presented by former NSF Program Directors in the Directorate for Education and Human Resources and is facilitated by an IUPUI faculty member.
These workshops are primarily intended for all STEM faculty members who are interested in NSF educational proposals or already have a funded project. These programs are designed to engage local participants in discussions related to the workshop topic, interdisciplinary collaboration and will enable local sites to interact with the entire virtual group. Each IWBW workshop lasts approximately two hours and will focus on the workshop topics below.

FACET Offers SoTL Travel Grants
The Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching (FACET) and the Mack Center for Inquiry on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning are pleased to announce a partnership that will offer travel grants to faculty presenting SoTL work at a conference.
Applications for funding of faculty travel to conferences, as presenters, will be evaluated and awards made twice a year. Grants are for allowable costs as delineated by IU Travel Management up to $750. Faculty are encouraged to combine this funding with other sources.
The fall application deadline is July 1st for travel that will be completed by the following January. The spring application deadline is December 1st for travel that will be completed before the start of the next academic school year.
