Call for Applications: Career Competencies Faculty Fellow
The Center for Teaching and Learning, in partnership with the Division of Undergraduate Education and the School of Liberal Arts, is seeking a faculty fellow to support the integration of career competencies into the culture of teaching at IU Indianapolis. Our goal is to build upon the work of the Career Competencies Workshop Series offered during the 2024-25 academic year to instructors at the School of Liberal Arts; this effort will be expanded to include programs and curricula across campus. The Career Competencies workshop was a grant-funded project that provided training, support, and a financial incentive to help faculty integrate career competency objectives, learning activities, and assessments into their courses.
Position Overview
Applications are now being accepted for a 1-year appointment to support this expanded effort. The fellowship appointment will begin on July 1, 2025, and continue through June 30, 2026.
Scope of Duties
Collaborating with CTL professional staff, university leaders, and prior participants to organize and conduct a yearlong learning community.
Creating and strengthening a sense of community among participants, both current and prior.
Planning and facilitating cohort meetings, assessing and providing feedback on participant’s work, completion of other assigned work, and disbursement of financial incentives.
Plan and carry out assessment activities in partnership with Institutional Effectiveness.
Promoting and disseminating the goals and achievements of the cohort to the broader campus community.
Supporting the integration of career competencies into the culture of teaching at IU Indianapolis.
Qualifications
Experience in developing course curricula that incorporate career competencies.
Familiarity with the Profiles of Learning for Undergraduate Success (PLUS) and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) competencies.
Ability to provide feedback and support to faculty in integrating career competencies into their courses.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
The Faculty Fellow will be part of a vibrant community of scholar practitioners at the Center for Teaching and Learning who bring their diverse disciplinary points of view, a range of teaching experiences and contexts, direct knowledge of faculty-specific issues, and creative energy toward solving teaching and learning challenges. Fellows find an interdisciplinary home within the CTL as they pursue individual projects and become advocates for teaching excellence across the institution.
