Create a Canvas Course Home Page That is Not the Syllabus Tool
Currently the Canvas Syllabus tool is set as the course home page by default. Since information in the Canvas Syllabus tool will be visible to the general public via Courseleaf, it is important to have a home page in your course that is not the Canvas Syllabus Tool. Check out the Canvas Semester Checklist for easy instructions on how to set up your Home page as the default for your class.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Syllabus Guidance for Fall 2025
Indiana University is implementing CourseLeaf, a curriculum and course management platform, to meet the new state requirement for public syllabus access. For all SIS-generated courses, IU automatically publishes the syllabus through CourseLeaf when the course is set to Published. No additional steps are required; instructors should keep their syllabus up to date in the Canvas Syllabus section. It will not replace Canvas; rather, CourseLeaf will serve as the public portal for prospective and current students to view course syllabi.
Deadline: Post your syllabus at least 7 days before your course begins so students have the information they need from day one. The Syllabi FAQ outlines what to include, what to omit, and when to post.
