Call for Proposals

We seek proposals from faculty teaching at higher education institutions across Indiana for the combined 2018 E.C. Moore Symposium on Excellence in Teaching and LEAP INdiana Conference. This event will bring the Indiana higher education community together to examine teaching excellence and innovative pedagogies to encourage student learning. We would especially welcome proposals that address topics such as: efforts to improve student learning and engagement, inclusive excellence, integrative learning, novel general education courses or curricula, creative use of instructional technology, and initiatives that promote excellence in teaching. Proposals should clearly demonstrate relevance to a broad range of disciplines.

Session Formats:

Concurrent

Concise presentations designed to engage attendees in a discussion about your work. Each presenter will have 30 minutes for presentation, interaction, and questions.

Poster

Presentations that communicate your teaching research or innovative practices in poster form. Posters allow for the visual display of teaching and learning projects and an opportunity for individualized, informal discussion with attendees.

Proposal Review Process:

Proposals must be submitted online through the IUPUI Center for Teaching and Learning website. The review process involves a blind reading by at least three individuals drawn from a pool of faculty members, E.C. Moore/LEAP INdiana Conference planning committee members, and Center for Teaching and Learning faculty and staff.

For full consideration, all proposals must include the following:

What educational challenge does your project or initiative address? What strategies, pedagogies, or innovative approaches did you employ?
What evidence do you have of the impact of your work?
What conceptual frameworks, research, or theoretical approaches ground your work? What is the significance of your project in your field and how are these ideas transferable to other disciplines?
How do you envision your session being structured, and how will participants engage with you, the content, and each other? (concurrent sessions only)

Proposals will be accepted through Monday, January 15, 2018. Applicants will be notified by early February 2018 of their proposal’s status.
