UITS is currently investigating options for building a new attendance tool or licensing a vended product that integrates with Canvas. Your input will help to shape the direction of this project. Save the Date: 2017 IUPUI TA Orientation on Thursday, August 17

The Center for Teaching and Learning and the Graduate Office will conduct the 2017 IUPUI TA Orientation on Thursday, August 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the IT Building. Graduate students anticipating to be first-time teaching assistants in Fall 2017 or Spring 2018 are encouraged to register for and attend the TA Orientation. Attendees will learn more about IUPUI policies and procedures and be equipped with basic tools and strategies to successfully start their teaching responsibilities at IUPUI. Applying the Quality Matters Rubric to Online Courses
|
The QM workshop introduces faculty and staff to the Quality Matters (QM) Rubric and to the QM Process. Quality Matters is a nationally recognized quality assurance organization for online course design, and the QM Process is a faculty-led peer review process that uses the research-based standards (criteria) of the QM Rubric to certify online courses.
In-person QM workshops will be offered on the following dates. Each workshop will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To register for an event or for more information, click on the dates listed below.

This webinar is provided by IU Top Hat representative, Sarah Hammond, in partnership with IT Training.
After a university-wide pilot, Top Hat has been selected as Indiana University’s new student response system. TurningPoint Cloud will continue to be available for Spring and Summer 2017 terms, but will no longer be supported in Fall 2017.
Top Hat is an interactive, cloud-based teaching platform that enables instructors to engage students both inside and outside the classroom with compelling content and activities.

This webinar is designed to help faculty consider best practices for evaluating course effectiveness. Evaluation refers to the process of determining whether student learning objectives or course outcomes are met. We will address the following questions: • How do you develop an evaluation plan? • What is formative versus summative evaluation? • What are common data collection techniques? • What are acceptable data analysis procedures? • How can you ensure that your results are reliable? • What should you do with your findings?
The presenters will include examples of STEM Education Innovation and Research Institute (SEIRI) evaluation projects that will enable attendees to apply these questions to their teaching contexts.

An IU-specific Report for the Unizin Needs Assessment Study is Now Available
|
Several members of the Unizin consortium, including Indiana University, conducted a faculty needs assessment study in order to identify the perceptions, needs, and desires of faculty for teaching, research, and collaboration in a Unizin consortium. The survey was administered online and stayed open between March 27 and April 18 of 2017. Eighty-six faculty across all IU campuses completed the survey. An IU-specific report for the Unizin Needs Assessment study is now available.
